MITSUBISHI NAGASAKI MACHINERY Holds 50th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony

Company

2025/06/02

Our subsidiary, MITSUBISHI NAGASAKI MACHINERY (MNM), marked the 50th anniversary of its founding in January 2025. To commemorate the milestone, MNM and the MITSUBISHI NAGASAKI MACHINERY Labor Union co-hosted a commemorative ceremony and celebration party on 24 May at the Dejima Messe Nagasaki Convention Hall in Nagasaki City.

MNM traces its lineage to the “Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Nagasaki Steel Works,” established in 1919, which later became the “Mitsubishi Steel Nagasaki Steel Works.” In 1975, the Industrial Machinery Division and the Steel Structure & Fabrication Division were spun off to form the independent company “MITSUBISHI NAGASAKI MACHINERY Co., Ltd.,” paving the way to the present day.

Roughly 320 people attended the ceremony, including our President & CEO, Mr. Yamaguchi, other guests, MNM labor-union executives, current employees, and alumni.

Representing the organizers, MNM President Mr. Nakamura opened with these remarks:
“Over the past 50 years, the road has seldom been smooth. Yet, with the support of our shareholders, the cooperation of all stakeholders, and the dedication of our predecessors, we have overcome every challenge together. It is now our duty to lay a fresh foundation for the future. Under the banner of ‘NEXT 50,’ let us build a company endowed with the resilience and flexibility to thrive amid major environmental changes.”

Speaking on behalf of the guests, our President Mr. Yamaguchi added:
“Fifty years ago, MNM set sail under the harsh conditions of an industry downturn. Today, in addition to its original businesses, the company has seized new opportunities in areas such as renewable energy to help solve pressing social issues, achieving steady growth by meeting society’s evolving needs. Mitsubishi Steel will continue to give MNM its full support.”
Following his address, four individuals who had made outstanding contributions to MNM’s development received awards for distinguished service, bringing the commemorative ceremony to a close.

The gathering then moved to a new venue for the celebration party. After a spirited kagami-biraki (sake-barrel opening) to pray for the company’s continued growth and for everyone’s good health, former MNM President Mr. Shiraishi proposed a toast, and lively conversation ensued. Participants reminisced about MNM’s history, shared stories of past challenges, and discussed their hopes for the future in a warm, convivial atmosphere.
The party also featured attractions such as sand-art performances and the traditional Chinese “bian-lian” (face-changing) act, eliciting cheers, laughter, and hearty applause that made the evening truly memorable.
