Mitsubishi Steel Muroran Inc., a subsidiary of our company, celebrated its 30th anniversary in April 2024. In commemoration of this, 30th anniversary celebration was held on July 4th at The Houraiden in Miyanomoricho, Muroran City.

Mitsubishi Steel Muroran used to operate special steel manufacturing by electric furnace as "Mitsubishi Steel Tokyo Works" in Koto-ku, Tokyo. However, with the aim of expanding its Special Steel Bars Business, it decided to relocate from the Tokyo Works to Muroran City, Hokkaido, and started manufacturing special steel Bars as Mitsubishi Steel Muroran Inc., in which our company invested 70%, after moving to the site of then Nippon Steel Corporation, Muroran Works (currently Nippon Steel North Nippon Works, Muroran Area) in 1994.

On the day of the celebration, a total of 96 people attended, including Deputy Director Yoshioka of North Nippon Works from Nippon Steel Corporation, Mayor Aoyama from Muroran City, our company's Chairman Sato and President Yamaguchi, President Shibata (Mitsubishi Steel Senior Executive Officer General Manager, Steel Bar Division) from Mitsubishi Steel Muroran, and other executives and employees, and Kouryou-kai (Cooperation Association) related parties.

At the celebration, President Shibata of the company first expressed his gratitude to the attendees for the past as the organizer's greeting.
(Excerpt from President Shibata's greeting)
"We have faced many difficulties and it was not always smooth sailing. However, we have been able to grow and develop by overcoming each one of them. This is due to the trust of our customers who continue to use our products, the efforts and dedication of our seniors and employees, and the support of Nippon Steel and the local community. The past 30 years are the foundation for the future to come. We want to continue to develop products and manufacturing technologies that contribute to society and make further leaps."

Muroran will play a central role. Muroran City also wants to develop with you all and polish the existence of the city of manufacturing and iron."

Furthermore, from our company's President Yamaguchi, "We have challenges such as a slump in demand, response to carbon neutrality, and labor shortage, but we want to grow and overcome them with everyone. We will also work on improving wages and workplace environment, and let's work together towards the 40th anniversary." After that, opening the sake barrel was performed by the relevant parties, and a toast was made under the lead of Chairman Sato. The attendees had a friendly chat while looking back on the history.
