Safety Prayer Ceremony of the VIM (Vacuum Induction Melting) Plant was Held at Chiba Works

6A safety prayer ceremony of the VIM plant was held on June 14th at Chiba AMC (Advanced Materials Center), which was set up in Chiba works aiming at development, trial production and improvement of our products. Due to Covid-19 catastrophe, the ceremony was held on a small scale. We prayed for safe operation of the VIM and completely no disaster.

We started operation of the VIM plant from June 16th and successfully completed tapping molten steel and casting. The completion of the VIM plant was delayed due to the effect of Covid-19 catastrophe. As the integrated production model of formed & fabricated products, which is one of the measures formulated in the mid-term business plan 2020, the VIM plant is expected to play a role for in-house production of our material of formed & fabricated products and a role as a melting furnace for our Research and Development. We will continuously promote “Improvement of Products Development Capability”, “Development of New Technology” and “Enhancement of Manufacturing Power” and enhanced support for our manufacturing bases in Japan and abroad.
